Membership cards are commonly issued at a variety of businesses and organizations, from gyms and country clubs to video stores and even the go-cart track. They provide convenience, security, and valuable data tracking capabilities. Depending on the needs of those issuing the cards, a membership ID can be as simple as a photo badge, or as sophisticated as a multifunction ID card integrated with a facility’s access control system. Zebra Eltron photo ID makers are compact, easy to use, powerful, and scalable, and are a popular choice amongst those producing membership ID cards.

If you’re looking to implement a membership ID program, think about the membership cards you’ve obtained in your own life, and how they operate. From my own personal experience, I use several membership cards on a near-daily basis. I have a simple plastic membership card for my gym, which I use three or four times a week (though you’d never guess it by looking at my pectorals). This gym card contains the following information: the company name and logo (which is pre-printed on the card), my name, a unique personal ID number, my enrollment date, and a barcode. When I enter the gym, I hold my card up to a scanner which reads the barcode. The card is linked to the gym’s internal database so that my information and my photo pop up on the computer screen after the scan. This allows the front desk worker to verify that I am indeed a member. After that, I enter the free-weights area and launch into an impressive series of bicep-sculpting dumbbell curls.

Another membership ID card I carry in my wallet comes from the aforementioned go-cart track. I recently attended a function at an outdoor raceway that required visitors to complete a grueling training process. Once we completed our training we were issued photo IDs as visual proof that we were technically fit for the road. Anyone who wants to use this particular raceway must have one of these photo ID cards in order to strap into a go-cart. It ensures that those racing have at least some idea how to handle the wheel, which creates a safer environment for all involved.

These are just a couple examples of membership ID cards in action. Zebra Eltron ID badge printers are more than capable of producing membership IDs of any level of sophistication. The Zebra Eltron line includes compact, yet robust value models such as the highly popular Zebra P110i and P120i, which are extremely effective for creating membership IDs. The Zebra Performance line of ID card printers expands their capabilities even further for high-volume runs of advanced multifunction IDs, such as those which utilize smart card technology.
